OLOYEDE SAYS JAMB ISN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR HND GRADUATES MISSING NYSC CALL-UP

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has clarified that the board is not responsible for the non-mobilisation of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Oloyede made the statement while receiving the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in Abuja.
He explained that JAMB’s role is limited to conducting entrance examinations and managing admissions into tertiary institutions via its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), stressing that the board does not oversee admissions into HND programmes.

“Polytechnics are responsible for admitting students into HND programmes,” he noted, adding that issues affecting the mobilisation of some graduates often arise from irregular admissions or discrepancies in records submitted by institutions.
Oloyede urged affected graduates to address such issues directly with their institutions, emphasizing that eligibility for NYSC mobilisation is determined by the relevant authorities, not JAMB.
He also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to a transparent admission process and advised institutions to ensure accurate documentation of student records to prevent complications during NYSC mobilisation.
