TOTTENHAM SINK DEEPER INTO RELEGATION TROUBLE AFTER FOREST DEFEAT
Agency Report

Tottenham Hotspur edged closer to relegation from the Premier League following a crushing 3-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Goals from Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Taiwo Awoniyi condemned Spurs to another damaging loss, extending their winless run in 2026.
The defeat piles pressure on interim manager Igor Tudor, with Tottenham now just one point above the relegation zone with seven matches remaining.
Forest took the lead just before half-time when Jesus headed home from a corner, silencing the home crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite pre-match displays of support from fans.
Gibbs-White doubled the advantage on the hour mark, finishing from close range after being left unmarked, before Awoniyi sealed the win late on by converting a cross from Neco Williams.
The victory marks the first league win under Forest boss Vitor Pereira and lifts his side four points clear of the drop zone.
Elsewhere, West Ham United’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa ensured Tottenham remain precariously positioned near the bottom of the table, while Villa boosted their hopes of securing a UEFA Champions League spot.
In another development, Newcastle United slipped to 12th place after defeat, dropping below local rivals Sunderland, who extended their dominance in the derby.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe admitted his side had no excuses for their performance and vowed to address the issues.
The club also pledged to investigate reports of racist abuse directed at Sunderland defender Lutsharel Geertruida during the match, stressing that those responsible would be held accountable.
