TIGER WOODS ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH DUI AFTER CAR CRASH

Agency Report
Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a rollover car crash in Florida on Friday, according to law enforcement officials.
Woods was not injured in the incident, which occurred when the vehicle he was driving struck a truck and overturned while attempting to overtake on a residential street near his home on Jupiter Island.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said the 50-year-old, who was previously arrested for a similar offence in 2017, showed signs of impairment but later passed a breathalyser test for alcohol.
However, he was formally charged with driving under the influence after declining to undergo a urine analysis test, the sheriff added.
“When it came time to request a urinalysis test, he declined, and as a result, he has been charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test in connection with the crash,” John Budensiek said.
The sheriff added that drug recognition experts who assessed Tiger Woods at the scene concluded he appeared to be impaired by “some form of medication or drug.”

He noted, however, that under Florida law, Woods had the right to refuse the urine test.
“We will never know definitively what he was impaired by at the time of the crash,” John Budensiek told reporters.
— ‘Could have been worse’ —
Although neither Tiger Woods nor the driver of the other vehicle was injured, Budensiek said the incident “could have been a lot worse.”
“This is a narrow, two-lane road,” he explained. “Had another vehicle been coming in the opposite direction, we would not be talking about there being no injuries.”
When asked to estimate Woods’ speed immediately before the crash, Budensiek replied, “I can’t provide an exact figure, but the speed limit here is 30 miles per hour.”
“When you see the photos, they speak for themselves … you can see he slid quite a distance before coming to a stop,” President Donald Trump told reporters in Miami.
He expressed concern for Tiger Woods, saying, “He’s going through some difficulty, there was an accident, and that’s all I know. He’s a very close friend of mine—an amazing person, an amazing man—but facing some challenges.”
Under Florida DUI laws, Tiger Woods will be held in a local jail for a minimum of eight hours before being released.
Friday’s crash comes five years after Woods suffered a serious car accident in California that caused severe injuries to his right leg. The 15-time major champion required pins in his foot and ankle, a rod in his tibia, and a follow-up surgery in 2023.
Woods made his return from the 2021 crash at the 2022 Masters, finishing 47th while struggling to walk all four rounds at Augusta National Golf Club.
The golfer, whose public image was severely affected by a 2009 sex scandal, has been recovering from an Achilles tendon rupture last March and back surgery last October.
Earlier this week, he competed in the TGL simulator indoor golf league finals and has not ruled out participating in next month’s Masters. Woods has won five times at Augusta, claiming his first major in 1997 and his most recent in 2019.
Tiger Woods, who shares the all-time PGA Tour record of 82 career victories with Sam Snead, has not played at the PGA Tour level since missing the cut at the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon Golf Club.
His last made cut was at the 2024 Masters, where he finished 60th.
