Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has said that rivalry among fans is a key factor behind the long-standing relevance of Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Davido in the music industry for nearly two decades.
In an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, he explained that while artists may maintain mutual respect or affection, fan rivalry should not be discouraged.
He argued that such competition between fanbases helps keep the artists in the spotlight, suggesting that without it, their relevance could fade.
“Wizkid and Davido can never fade. That hatred is the reason why they will be relevant forever. When they love each other, it is over. Love is for children. Artists can love each other, but the fans should never love each other,” he said.
Blaqbonez added that rivalry among fan communities keeps artists trending, noting that he personally embraces competition and is comfortable with rivalry in the industry.
