The Chairman of the Kano North Political Stakeholders Forum, Aliyu Abbas Gumawa Gabasawa, has stated that the Kano North Senatorial District will not accept political experimentation or imposed candidates.

In a statement released on Monday, Gumawa expressed concern over recent political developments in the area, particularly the declaration of interest by former Minister of State for Housing, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.

He noted that, following consultations and a review of the political landscape, the ambition does not align with the wishes and expectations of the people of Kano North.

According to him, the ambition is misplaced, as it lacks grassroots support and does not reflect the aspirations of the people of Kano North.

Gumawa also raised concerns about the composition of attendees at the declaration event, noting that most of them were from outside the constituency.

He stated that the gathering was largely dominated by political actors whose influence does not represent the true electoral strength within Kano North, adding that it cannot be taken as a valid indicator of popular support. He further expressed concern over what he described as growing external interference in the political affairs of the district, especially attempts by non-indigenes to impose or promote candidates without regard for the will of the people.

He reiterated that such a gathering does not reflect genuine public backing.

Gumawa warned against increasing outside involvement in Kano North politics, stressing that the constituency would not tolerate efforts to impose candidates against the wishes of its people.

“Kano North is not open to political experimentation or imposed candidacies,” he said.

He warned that such actions, if not checked, could threaten the unity, stability, and democratic integrity of the constituency, which he said has consistently shown commitment to credible and effective representation.

He urged political stakeholders to respect the will of the people and avoid actions that could heighten unnecessary political tension.

He further called for the electorate to be allowed to choose their leaders based on trust and proven performance.

He also expressed confidence in the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, describing him as a tested, trusted, and result-oriented lawmaker whose performance continues to enjoy broad support across the district.
