The Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC), today briefed members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Directors of Admin and Human Resources and Schedule Officers from various Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) on the modalities for the Year 2024 Promotion Exercise.
Speaking at the virtual briefing, the Permanent Secretary of CSC, Mr. Akinbode Obadina gave the guidelines for the exercise and also enumerated the expectations of the Commission in the forthcoming Promotion Exercise.
Obadina emphasised that the Commission is desirous to start and conclude the Year 2024 Promotion Exercise which would commence on Monday, 19th February 2024 with the Oral Interview for Officers on Grade Levels 12 – 16 in a record time.
He informed that the approved Time-Table for the Year 2024 Promotion Exercise for eligible officers had been forwarded to relevant MDAs, adding that any MDA who may not have received their copy should urgently contact the Commission.
He noted that the preparations for the Year 2024 Promotion Exercise had commenced earlier as a result of the decision of the Commission to address the observed disparities between the notational and the financial dates of officers after promotion to the next Grade Level.
Continuing, he averred that officers undergoing disciplinary actions are not expected to be presented for promotion irrespective of whether the officer had spent the mandatory years for promotion.
Speaking on some of the modalities for the Promotion Exercise, Mr. Obadina noted that eligible Officers are expected to arrive and register at least one hour before the commencement of each session, with their RSTP slips duly endorsed.
Eligible Officers participating in the Promotion Exercise are also expected to be properly dressed, adding that any improperly dressed officer would not be permitted to participate in the Exercise.
He also warned eligible officers on Grade Levels 6 – 10 participating physically in both the Job Specific and Cross-Cutting training to avoid the use of mobile digital devices like phones, laptops, tablets, etc. as they are not permitted to use them during the RSTP.
The Permanent Secretary of the Civil Service Commission, however, noted that officers on Grade Levels 12 -16 who are expected to participate virtually in the RSTP training in the promotion exercise are to ensure that their mobile devices are registered in their names starting with the surnames.
Designated venues for the Year 2024 Promotion Exercise include the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Folarin Coker Conference Room of the Staff Clinic, the Women Development Centre, the State Treasury Office Conference Room as well as the Conference rooms of selected MDAs for some professional cadre.
