TROOPS ELIMINATE TERRORISTS ATTEMPTING TO HIJACK 8 HUMANITARIAN TRUCKS IN BORNO
Military personnel engaged in the mission to liberate the country from terrorists and various criminal factions have thwarted efforts by Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents to commandeer eight humanitarian vehicles transporting food supplies and other aid materials from the Gubio-Damask route in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, while disclosing this information on Friday, stated: “During the clashes that occurred on 3rd September 2025, numerous insurgents were neutralized, and firearms, ammunition, and motorcycles were seized. ”
He remarked, “Troops involved in Operation Hadin Kai, between 3 and 11 September 2025, maintained their operational momentum by restricting Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS terrorists’ activities in the North East region.
“Their endeavors resulted in the destruction of terrorists, the apprehension of their logistical supporters, the retrieval of weapons, the dismantling of their infrastructures, and the facilitation of the safe resettlement of displaced individuals, allowing them to return to agricultural pursuits.
“Troops executed both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies against insurgents in Bama, Gwoza, Mobbar, Chibok, Monguno, and Marte LGAs of Borno State, as well as Hong Mubi North and Geidam LGAs of Adamawa and Yobe States, respectively.
“Throughout these encounters, troops eradicated numerous terrorists, detained 18 purported accomplices, and successfully rescued 5 individuals who had been kidnapped.
“Furthermore, from 3 to 10 September 2025, troops carried out operations in Askira Uba, Ngala, Kukawa, Magumeri, and Chibok LGAs of Borno State, along with Madagali and Mubi South LGAs of Adamawa State.
“During these confrontations, 23 collaborators, informants, and some narcotics traffickers were apprehended.
“Logistical materials, illegal substances, vehicles, motorcycles, and IED marking supplies were also confiscated. The retrieved items are currently in military custody, and interrogations are ongoing.
“In the North West, troops of Operation Fasan Yamma intensified their efforts, leading to the elimination of several terrorists and the rescue of hostages.
“From 3 to 11 September 2025, forces undertook offensive missions in Anka, Bukkuyum, Shinkafi, Tsafe, and Maru LGAs of Zamfara State, as well as Argungu and Tangaza LGAs of Kebbi and Sokoto States.
“Operations were also executed in Mariga and Kankara LGAs of Niger and Katsina States, respectively.
“During these missions, multiple terrorists were neutralized through aerial bombardments, allowing ground forces to eliminate additional threats during the operations.
“Fourteen terrorists were apprehended and 28 kidnapped victims were rescued.
“In a related operation, troops, in collaboration with Nigeria Police and NDLEA personnel, raided known criminal hideouts within Kaduna Metropolis, resulting in the arrest of 34 suspected criminals, alongside the recovery of various lethal weapons, motorcycles, and substantial quantities of illicit drugs and cannabis.
“Brave troops reacted to intelligence regarding terrorist activities in Sabuwa, Sabon Birni, Rabah, Gudu, and Shagari LGAs of Sokoto State, as well as Kachia, Birnin Gwari, Rijau, and Kontagora LGAs of Kaduna and Niger States.
“During these confrontations, several insurgents were dispatched, 11 individuals were detained, weapons and ammunition were recovered, and 19 kidnapped victims were liberated.
“In another incident, two suspects were apprehended on 8 September 2025 within a vehicle possessing N15 million in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State.
The inquiry disclosed that the funds were intended for the payment of a ransom for their relatives who were under the captivity of abductors.
“Between 3 – 4 September 2025, our courageous forces acted upon intelligence regarding terrorist operations in Faskari, Matazu, and Sabuwa LGAs of Katsina State, as well as in Tangaza and Augie LGAs of Sokoto and Kebbi States, respectively.
“During these engagements, the forces neutralized several terrorists, seized arms and ammunition, and liberated 14 abducted individuals.
“In the North Central region, the troops of Operation Enduring Peace conducted proactive operations and responded to urgent appeals related to terrorist activities in Riyom, Jos South, Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Jos East LGAs of Plateau State, as well as Jemaá, Sanga, and Kafanchan LGAs of Kaduna State.
“Throughout the confrontations, the troops eliminated a number of terrorists, apprehended 16 offenders, and rescued 5 kidnapped individuals.
“Various weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and vehicles were confiscated from them.
“In a separate occurrence, from 4 – 6 September 2025, troops apprehended a wanted notorious extremist named Abdulrahman Bega along with 4 accomplices in Jos South, Barkin Ladi, and Jos North LGAs of Plateau State, as well as Kaura LGA of Kaduna State.
“Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke carried out operations between 3 – 10 September 2025, in Logo, Gwer West, Guma, and Kwande LGAs of Benue State, as well as Gashaka and Wukari LGAs of Taraba State.
“They expanded their operations to Kabba Bunu Lokoja and Ajaokuta LGAs of Kogi State, alongside Bwari, AMAC, and Gwagwalada Area Councils of the FCT.
“During these operations, the troops eliminated several extremists and kidnappers, apprehended 44 suspects, and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages.
“They also seized arms and ammunition, mobile devices, motorcycles, and vehicles.
In the Niger Delta, troops of Operation Delta Safe thwarted an oil theft estimated at over Eleven Million Three Hundred and Ninety Nine Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N11,399,500.00), which included 9,760 liters of stolen crude oil and 1,900 liters of DPK.
“Additionally, they discovered and dismantled 3 crude oil cooking ovens, 8 dugout pits, 4 boats, 4 storage tanks, and 5 illicit refining sites.
“Furthermore, 13 oil thieves and various criminals were detained, and assorted arms and ammunition were also recovered.
“Correspondingly, between 3 – 9 September 2025, troops executing offensive operations apprehended 8 suspected criminals in Sapele LGA of Delta State, as well as in Yenagoa, Ekeremor, and Ogbia LGAs of Bayelsa State.
“They also raided a hideout frequented by kidnappers and sea pirates in Bonny LGA, Rivers State, apprehending the perpetrator. Weapons, ammunition, illicit drugs, and vehicles were seized.
“In a further development, troops detained 2 high-profile IPOB/ESN extremists skilled in IED manufacturing, identified as Onyeka Ezechukwu Arthur and Chukwudi Madaka, in Oshimili South LGA of Delta State on 4 September 2025.
“In the South East, troops of Operation Udoka maintained an offensive stance throughout the week under review.
“Nonetheless, it is important to recognize the relative tranquility that the inhabitants of the South East region are experiencing as a result of the troops’ professional conduct.
“We will persist in safeguarding our citizens in the region and in preventing crimes and criminal behaviors. ”
Continuing, Major General Kangye stated, “The Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security stakeholders will persist in their operations nationwide within the framework of the law, with careful consideration of human rights in accordance with global best practices.
“We maintain our focus on our commitment to eradicate terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminal activity in the country to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
“We urge all law-abiding citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear of intimidation.
“We request your ongoing support by providing credible information to our troops to improve the effectiveness of our operations.
