Strasbourg captain Emmanuel Emegha is set to join Chelsea in the upcoming season, as announced on Friday by the two clubs, both of which are under the ownership of the BlueCo consortium.

No specifics regarding the transfer fee or the duration of the contract that the Netherlands Under-21 forward will sign at Stamford Bridge have been disclosed.

“Strasbourg provided me with the chance to grow and reach the level I am at today,” stated Emegha, who has netted a total of 22 goals in Ligue 1 over the last two seasons following his transfer from Austrian club Sturm Graz.

The 22-year-old has found the back of the net three times in three matches across all competitions at the outset of this season for Liam Rosenior’s squad.

“I intend to concentrate fully on Strasbourg until the conclusion of this season, after which I will depart,” he remarked.

“I had chances to move to other elite European clubs participating in the Champions League. I engaged in discussions with Chelsea, Strasbourg, and BlueCo about what would be most beneficial for my career,” he elaborated.

“We concluded that the optimal pathway for my career would be to remain in Strasbourg for one more year…and then transition to Chelsea. ”

This transfer will be the latest in a series of dealings between the two clubs since BlueCo acquired Strasbourg in 2023 to implement a multi-club model.

The consortium, headed by American entrepreneurs Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, purchased Chelsea a year prior.

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea roster this season already features Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, who has returned to London after making a notable impact while on loan at Strasbourg.

England left-back Ben Chilwell recently completed a transfer in the opposite direction.
