AWUJALE BID: RULING HOUSE REJECTS KWAM1’S APPLICATION

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode has officially turned down the claim that Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as KWAM 1, is part of their family line. They said the document he gave for the Awujale selection process is not valid and doesn’t matter. In a letter sent on December 11, 2025, they explained that after looking into it, they couldn’t find any proof that Ayinde is from the Jadiara Royal House or the bigger Fusengbuwa family, which is responsible for choosing the next Awujale of Ijebu land.

The statement, signed by the Chairman of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, faulted the certification of Ayinde’s form, noting that it was endorsed by “a purported family unit head,” Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, who the ruling house said is not a recognised member of the Jadiara Royal House.

The ruling house also queried the timeline of the endorsement, saying the form was certified on December 8, two days before Ayinde himself signed it on December 10, describing it as “presigned.”

“ur extensive investigation has not revealed any proof of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or indeed that of Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” the statement read.

It said that Oduneye did not have the right to sign for the family, and pointed out that he has “no locus standi” to confirm any documents about family lineage.

“Consequently, the completed linkage lineage form is hereby declared null, void and of no consequence. For the avoidance of doubt, your claim to the membership of Fusengbuwa Ruling House is rejected and the completed form is of no consequence,” the statement added.

A new statement has been released as there is growing interest in choosing a new Awujale after the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July, ending his 65-year rule.

On Thursday, members of the royal family publicly rejected the musician, saying he was not part of their family and should not be in the selection process.

KWAM1 submitted his family history form after being given an extra five days past the official deadline of December 5.

This surprised many because he has long been connected to the Fidipote ruling house, where he holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebuland.

The form he gave claimed he comes from the Setejoye family of the Jadiara Royal House through his father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe, and was signed by Oduneye.

However, many family leaders, including those from the Jadiara and Bubiade groups, said they had already denied any link to the musician, stating he and his father are not part of their family lines.

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House held an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss KWAM1’s application and the issues around his claim.
