OGUN POLICE WARN RESIDENTS ABOUT THE DANGERS OF BALLOT SNATCHING

The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday educated residents on the risks associated with electoral malpractice, including ballot box snatching and election-related violence.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, disclosed this in a statement.
Oluseyi explained that the sensitisation was part of activities commemorating National Police Day and was conducted simultaneously across all area commands and divisions.
Photos of the exercise, obtained by our correspondent, showed police officers interacting with students, members of transport unions, and local residents.
He added that the sensitisation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, also focused on safety awareness and compliance with traffic regulations.
“Marking Day Three of Police Week, themed ‘Community Partnership: Building Trust,’ the exercise was held simultaneously across all area commands and divisions within the command.

“The sensitisation focused on educating members of the public on the dangers and prevention of electoral malpractice, including electoral violence and ballot snatching, as well as promoting road safety awareness and compliance with traffic regulations, thereby reinforcing collective responsibility for public safety,” Oluseyi said.
The Public Relations Officer added that the exercise concluded with the distribution of free meals to residents.
“To further foster goodwill and community engagement, cooked meals, refreshing drinks, and souvenirs were handed out to the public, a gesture that was warmly received and appreciated,” he said.
The media reports that the week-long programme, which began on Monday nationwide, is designed to strengthen relations between the police and the communities they serve.
