Atlético Madrid are reportedly displeased with how Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, managed Ademola Lookman during the recent international break.

According to AS, the Spanish club has raised concerns over Lookman’s heavy involvement in Nigeria’s two friendly matches against Iran and Jordan.

The forward, who joined the Rojiblancos from Atalanta in the winter transfer window, featured for the full 90 minutes in both games, totaling 180 minutes of action.

Lookman played a key role for Nigeria, helping secure a 2-1 victory over Iran and a 2-2 draw against Jordan in Antalya, Turkey.

However, Atlético Madrid consider the decision to play him throughout both non-competitive matches excessive.

Since his move to Spain, the Nigerian international has impressed, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 14 appearances across La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.

The club is keen to carefully manage his workload as the season intensifies, fearing that extended minutes on international duty could lead to fatigue or increase the risk of injury, potentially affecting their push for silverware.
