Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will enter the 2027 general elections more cohesive and better positioned to retain its dominance both in the state and nationwide.

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Peter Odey, the governor made this known during a 1.5 million-man solidarity march held in Ikom on Sunday in support of President Bola Tinubu and his administration. The event, organised by the Prince Otu Is Coming Organisation, drew a large crowd of supporters, stakeholders, and party leaders.

Otu noted that the party intends to leverage its governance record and ongoing federal projects to strengthen its standing. He called on party members and aspirants to avoid internal conflicts and instead prioritise unity. According to him, all members belong to one political family and differences should be resolved collectively when the time comes.

Highlighting achievements in office, the governor pointed to progress in workers’ welfare, stating that funds had been released to settle gratuities owed since 2007. He added that more payments would be made before mid-year to clear outstanding obligations.

He also urged residents to intensify voter mobilisation efforts by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participating in the electoral process, expressing optimism that the state could deliver at least three million votes for Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state, Soni Abang, said future campaigns would focus on verifiable achievements rather than promises. He explained that political engagement would centre on showcasing completed and ongoing projects for public assessment.

Abang also voiced confidence in the president’s leadership, noting that despite global economic pressures, ongoing reforms were beginning to stabilise critical sectors such as food supply and infrastructure. He added that the Federal Government’s investment in long-term infrastructure projects reflects a strategic effort to reposition the economy.

Meanwhile, the organisation’s Director-General, Emmanuel Ironbar, called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, including door-to-door campaigns, ahead of the elections. He encouraged supporters to remain committed to peaceful, issue-based politics while rejecting misinformation, divisive rhetoric, and personal attacks.
