FCT DOCTORS SUSPENDS INDEFINITE STRIKE

BY JENN NOMAMIUKOR
The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration has ended its indefinite strike after 30 days of protest.
Dr. George Ebong, the president of ARD-FCTA, shared this information with our reporter on Monday.
The strike, which started on November 1, 2025, was stopped because the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, agreed to their demands.
But the doctors said they will start protesting again if the FCTA doesn’t put the approved demands into action within four weeks.

The ARD-FCTA is a group of doctors working in 14 district and general hospitals, including the Department of Public Health within the FCTA.
Dr. Ebong said, “ARD-FCTA has stopped its strike for four weeks, hoping that the approvals from the Minister will be carried out.”
The doctors started a work stoppage to push for better working conditions, better benefits, fair pay, and other improvements.
The strike caused problems in medical services throughout the FCT, leading to delays in treating patients and making it harder for the remaining healthcare workers.
