The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary night-time traffic diversion along the Fadeyi–Donmanlong and Donmanlong–Ojuelegba routes to allow for the installation of truck-restriction barriers.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated that the diversion will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Osiyemi explained that the measure is part of the state’s ongoing traffic management and road safety efforts, aimed at reducing accidents and safeguarding lives along the busy corridors.

He stated that certain sections of the bridge would be temporarily closed to facilitate the installation of truck-restriction barriers, adding that the work was deliberately scheduled overnight to minimize disruption to motorists and businesses.

Motorists traveling from Fadeyi Donmanlong Bridge or Ayilara toward Ojuelegba are advised to use the service lane via Fadeyi, Jibowu, Empire, and Donmanlong, connecting to Barracks Road to reach their destinations during this period.

The Commissioner urged road users to cooperate with traffic management personnel and exercise patience, emphasizing that the barriers are intended to curb reckless movements by heavy-duty vehicles, which have previously caused serious accidents in the area.

He further warned that the state would not tolerate the destruction or tampering of traffic infrastructure, stressing that anyone found responsible would face prosecution.

Osiyemi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving road safety across Lagos and called on motorists to comply with traffic regulations and protect public facilities installed for the common good.
