The Lagos State Police Command has announced significant operational achievements recorded in June 2026, including the arrest of numerous criminal suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, suspected illicit substances, stolen items, and military camouflage uniforms.
Speaking during a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, said the Command remained committed to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention strategies, and swift responses to security threats.
According to the Commissioner, a total of 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, two vehicle Engine Control Units (ECUs), an operational motorcycle, a MAN diesel truck, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and 80 cartons of suspected illicit substances were recovered during various operations across the state.
Among the major breakthroughs was the arrest of two suspected cable vandals who were allegedly caught vandalising electrical cables on the Third Mainland Bridge. The Command also arrested three suspects in Ayetoro-Ijanikin and recovered two double-barrel guns and six locally made single-barrel firearms during an investigation into the theft of construction materials from a church project.
Police operatives further dismantled a suspected “One Chance” robbery syndicate, recovering 51 mobile phones believed to be proceeds of robbery operations targeting unsuspecting commuters.
In another operation, officers arrested a suspect found in possession of two suspected stolen vehicle Engine Control Units, popularly known as brain boxes, during a stop-and-search exercise in Festac Town.
The Command also recorded successes in the fight against illegal arms possession, armed robbery, cult-related violence, and impersonation. Several suspects were arrested in separate operations, while firearms, ammunition, and other dangerous items were recovered.

A major intelligence-led operation by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of an unregistered MAN diesel truck conveying 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms alongside 80 cartons of suspected illicit substances. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the items.
The police also rescued 38 foreign nationals in Epe from a possible mob attack. Preliminary findings indicated that 20 of the individuals entered Nigeria illegally, while 18 possessed valid ECOWAS travel documents. The matter has been referred to the Nigerian Immigration Service and relevant diplomatic missions.
CP Fatai reiterated the Command’s determination to ensure Lagos remains unsafe for criminal elements, urging residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information.
He assured the public that all suspects arrested in connection with criminal activities would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
