Aloy Ejimakor, an activist lawyer and Special Adviser to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to issue a strong warning to the South African government over attacks on Nigerians living in the country.

Ejimakor urged the Federal Government to make it clear that there would be serious consequences if any Nigerian loses their life in attacks by South African mobs.

In a statement titled “Dear Black South Africans, Especially the Zulu,” Ejimakor condemned what he described as growing “Afrophobia” against fellow Africans.

“This afrophobia you have towards your fellow blacks is very shameful,” he said.

He reminded South Africans of the support they received from other African nations during the struggle against apartheid.

“Before you raise your hand against another black African living in South Africa, remember that South Africa was the only country in the world that the whole of black Africa united to free from oppression and apartheid.

“No other country was that fortunate. Nelson Mandela lived in Nigeria, and so did Thabo Mbeki for many years. Nigerians supported them and contributed millions of dollars to the anti-apartheid struggle. Because of that cause, British companies operating in Nigeria were nationalised.

“Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and other frontline states also paid with the lives of their citizens who fought and died for your freedom,” he said.

Ejimakor also appealed to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to take decisive action to end the attacks.

“To your government and President Ramaphosa, the rest of black Africa is watching closely and expects swift action to stop this disturbing situation. The responsibility lies with your administration,” he stated.

Addressing President Tinubu, Ejimakor said the Nigerian government must send a firm message to South Africa.

“To President Tinubu, I urge you to issue the strongest possible warning to the South African government that there will be serious consequences if any Nigerian is killed by a South African mob,” he said.
