MAN CALLS FOR HELP AS ALLEGED LAND GRABBERS DEMOLISH BUILDING IN IBADAN

A resident of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital; Kunle Ojofeyitimi, has called on the state governor, the Federal Government, and citizens to intervene after his property in the Akoto area of Oluyole Estate Extension was repeatedly destroyed by alleged land grabbers.
Ojofeyitimi, who returned to Nigeria after years of working abroad, claims that the land he purchased over three decades ago has been targeted by local land grabbers, popularly known as Omo-Onile.
In an Instagram post sighted by Hotjist on Sunday, Ojofeyitimi explained that he had invested all his life savings in constructing his house on the land he bought from the Aregbe-Omo family with the assistance of Alhaji Yekini Bale-alaro.
According to Ojofeyitimi, the property had been his family’s home for over 39 years until three months ago when members of the Akoto family, including Kazeem Akoto, Oluomo, Kehinde, and Taiwo Agbada, allegedly began to claim ownership and destroy parts of his property.
“I was out of the house very early in the morning for work,” Ojofeyitimi said, describing his distress upon returning to find his home damaged again. “When I came back, I saw that they had destroyed my property once more. This has been going on for the past three months, and I’m at my wit’s end.”
Ojofeyitimi, who attended the prestigious Government College in Ibadan and went abroad for further education, has pleaded for government intervention to halt the attacks on his home. He expressed frustration that despite his legal ownership and long-term residence in the area, he has been unable to protect his property from these repeated acts of vandalism.
“I’ve worked hard to build my life here in Nigeria after coming back. I never imagined that my property would be taken away like this,” he lamented. “I call on the Governor of Oyo State, the Nigerian government, and all well-meaning Nigerians to help me. I need assistance to reclaim what rightfully belongs to me.”
In an update on Tuesday, Hotjist was informed that the matter had been taken to court and the family has been summoned while mentioning that the Area Police Command, Apata has also been notified if the new development.
After the court summon, according to Ojofeyitimi, the grabbers have since been issuing death threats.
He said, “We went to court yesterday and the grabbers’ family has been notified. They’ve been served and the Area Police Command at Apata has also been notified of the new development.”
“Unfortunately, the hooligans still came here this morning and last night threatening me and the neighbors that they were going to kill me because they warned me not to go to court.”
“I have notified my lawyer as well and i believe he’s doing something about it.”
