The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismantled suspected kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages, both in the Lafia East Development Area, arresting six suspects and rescuing three abducted victims.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Assakio Police Division in collaboration with local vigilante groups, leading to the rescue of two females and one male. All three victims were freed unhurt and subsequently reunited with their families.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, the successful operation followed a report received on January 7, 2026, that armed kidnappers had stormed Angara village, abducted two women, and abandoned an infant during the attack.

The suspects were also alleged to have subsequently abducted a male resident of the same community.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators, leading to the raid of their hideouts and the arrest of the suspects.

Police authorities disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime and have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

“The Commissioner of Police has assured the good people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s sustained offensive against all forms of criminality across the state,” the statement said.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of residents and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
