Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Guinea-Conakry to attend the inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya.

Shettima’s media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed on Friday that the vice president is scheduled to participate in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, following the presidential inauguration.

The ceremony, marking President Doumbouya’s electoral victory, is set for Saturday, January 17, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry.

According to Nkwocha, Shettima’s presence at the inauguration underscores Nigeria’s strategic engagement in regional leadership, economic cooperation, and global integration under President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

“It reflects Nigeria’s leadership role within ECOWAS, including support for Guinea’s return to constitutional governance after a four-year transition. Beyond diplomacy, the visit is intended to strengthen bilateral trade, with Nigerian exports to Guinea—particularly manufactured goods and agricultural products—recently reaching $3.29 million,” the statement added.
