Adaptation Of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s “Shehu Umar” Premiered At Berlin Film Festival

Shehu Umar, a film adaptation of the novel written by Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria’s first Prime Minister, was premiered to an audience of over 350 people including filmmakers and enthusiasts at the 68th annual Berlin International Film Festival, Germany.
According to reports, the premiere was followed by a Nigerian Day Happy Hour, a reception put together for Nigerian delegates by the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Hon. Yusuf Tuggar.
Those who attended the event include Chidia Maduekwe, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Umaru Dembo, the lead character in the film, Christy Best, Rector of the National Film Institute and Mrs Akudo Nwosu, Director of Entertainment and Creativity at the Federal Ministry of Information and Orientation.
