GIZ-SKYE, LASTVEB TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP

The German International Cooperation (GIZ) Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE) Project team has visited the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) to strengthen partnerships and explore further opportunities for collaboration.

Ms. Moronke Azeez, General Manager of the LASVEB welcomed the GIZ delegation led by the Head of Department, West Africa, Dr. Folkan, with the Nigeria Director GIZ, Mr. Markus Wagner and Mr. Tobias Wolfgarten, Head of Skills Development for Youths Employment (SKYE) Project, GIZ, to the meeting which took place at the Skills for Work Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

She appreciated the team for the visit, reiterating the Board’s commitment to providing quality Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) to residents across the state.

She mentioned that LASTVEB’s collaboration with GIZ in the last five years has contributed a lot to Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Lagos. She also expressed the willingness of the board to strengthen the existing collaboration with GIZ SKYE in areas such as teachers’ training, entrepreneurship development and apprenticeship programmes among others.

Mr. Tobias Wolfgarten, the Head of the GIZ SKYE project, expressed the readiness of the Agency to continue its support for the Lagos State government as part of efforts to improve the quality of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in the State.

He emphasised the importance of partnerships between government, private sector, and development partners in achieving sustainable development goals. He cited the example of the ongoing Competency Based Training in Office Administration in Agidingbi which was facilitated through GIZ and LASTVEB collaboration, among others.
