Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has declared Friday a work-free day in celebration of the Islamic New Year, 1447AH.

This was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, on Thursday. The Governor extended warm felicitations to Muslims in Katsina and across Nigeria on witnessing the start of the new Islamic calendar.

The work-free day, according to the statement, is to enable residents and civil servants to join in commemorating the occasion and reflect on its spiritual significance.

Governor Radda urged the people of Katsina State to continue living in peace and unity, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and stability. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful, people-centered projects.

He also appealed to farmers to use government-provided fertilizers, tractors, and other inputs effectively to boost food production during the rainy season. Additionally, he warned against the unlawful encroachment of cattle routes, forests, and grazing reserves.

The Governor concluded with prayers for continued peace, unity, and prosperity in Katsina State and across the nation.
