JUST IN: BYE-ELECTIONS, PROTESTERS STORMS INEC HQ, DEMAND RESTORATION OF LP CANDIDATES

Civil society organizations aligned with the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) have surged into the National Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to advocate for the inclusion of the party’s candidates in the impending nationwide bye-elections.

Numerous demonstrators bearing banners and signs with messages such as: “INEC, who is utilizing you against LP,” “Mahmood cease undermining democracy in Nigeria,” “Urge INEC to adhere to court rulings,” among various others, assembled for the nonviolent demonstration as early as 11:00 am on Wednesday.
