LAGOS STATE EDUCATION DISTRICT II DISTRIBUTES SPORTS EQUIPMENT/FIRST AID BOXES
In a bid to promote physical education and grassroots sports development in Lagos public schools, schools in Education District II received Sporting equipment donated by the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund.
The distribution exercise, which was done by the Supervising Tutor General/ Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusegun Osinaike took place at the District Headquarters, Maryland, had representatives from various beneficiary schools present to receive items including footballs, volleyballs, jerseys, athletics kits, table tennis equipment, and other essential sporting gear.
The TG/PS expressed profound gratitude to the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund for the generous support. He described the initiative as a significant boost to efforts aimed at enhancing students’ participation in sports and promoting healthy lifestyles among learners.
“This gesture aligns perfectly with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in the area of Youth and Social Development. Physical education is an integral part of holistic learning, and these materials will go a long way in encouraging sports talent discovery and development across our schools,” Mr. Osinaike stated.
In a complementary gesture, the Elders Forum 19 of Ikorodu donated five fully equipped first aid boxes to selected schools from Ikorodu and Kosofe Zones, reinforcing the importance of safety and emergency readiness in school environments.

Mr Osinaike noted that the day’s activities showcased the collaborative effort of government and community stakeholders to improve school infrastructure, promote safety, foster a vibrant school culture and develop a well-rounded students through both academic and extracurricular engagement, setting the pace for future sporting excellence from the grassroots.
High point of the event was a novelty tennis match between Mr. TG/PS and a student from Ajegunle Senior Ikorodu schools to symbolize unity, fitness, and sportsmanship within the education family.
Representing beneficiary schools, Physical Education teachers, and students in attendance, the Principal, Eva Adelaja Girl’s Junior Grammar School, Mrs Vinuyon Buhari expressed appreciation for the wonderful gesture, while pledging maximum use of the donated equipment.
