The disorderly conduct of popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1 or K1 De Ultimate, has led to the suspension of two ValueJet pilots by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), TheCable has learned.
The incident occurred on August 5 aboard a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to sources, the veteran musician was observed drinking from a flask during boarding. A flight attendant, suspecting the contents to be alcohol prohibited onboard aircraft in Nigeria approached him and requested he surrender the flask. Kwam 1 reportedly refused, claiming the flask contained medication prescribed by his doctor.
Despite repeated appeals by the crew, the musician refused to cooperate. His refusal prompted the flight crew to deboard him for violating aviation safety rules.
The situation escalated when Kwam 1, visibly agitated, made his way to the front of the aircraft in an attempt to obstruct the flight’s departure.
Following the incident, the NCAA reportedly suspended the pilots involved for not adhering strictly to safety protocols during the altercation.
The development has sparked renewed conversation around unruly passenger behaviour and the responsibilities of crew members in upholding aviation safety standards, regardless of a passenger’s social status.
FAAN has since confirmed an ongoing investigation into the matter, reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on any act that endangers airport or flight operations.
