…FIRS Honours Cement Giant at 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair
Dangote Cement Plc has once again been named Nigeria’s most tax-compliant organisation, earning top recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the second consecutive year.
The tax authority conferred the honour on the leading cement manufacturer during the FIRS Special Day at the just-concluded 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
According to FIRS, Dangote Cement emerged winner in the Large Taxpayer Group after a rigorous selection process carried out in collaboration with tax controllers across multiple jurisdictions. The assessment focused on compliance, timeliness, transparency, and professional engagement with tax authorities.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, the Group Head of Tax and Compliance, Mojisola Ogunlade, described the recognition as a reinforcement of Dangote Cement’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and prompt tax remittances.
“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to meeting all compliance obligations and contributing to national growth,” Ogunlade stated. “We remain committed to strengthening our partnership with the FIRS and aligning with standards that support a transparent and efficient tax system.”
She noted that the recognition underscores the company’s role in supporting Nigeria’s development through responsible tax practices. Ogunlade added that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) the parent company has consistently upheld its civic duties, paying over N402 billion in taxes in 2024, the highest by any corporate entity in the country.
She further explained that Dangote Group has achieved full compliance by deploying world-class processes aligned with tax laws and statutory timelines, thereby eliminating risks and costs associated with non-compliance.
“The Dangote brand is committed to fostering a culture of tax compliance as part of its corporate responsibility to support government efforts in providing essential public services,” she added.
“For Dangote Cement, this recognition serves as further motivation to sustain its leadership in corporate governance and national economic development.”
In her earlier remarks, Dr. Lovette Onanuga, Director of the Taxpayers Service Department at FIRS, described the recognition ceremony as an important moment to celebrate organisations whose consistency continues to drive Nigeria’s revenue performance.
She noted that the FIRS relied on inputs from tax controllers nationwide to identify exceptional taxpayers, with compliance, timeliness, and professionalism forming the core criteria.
“Your partnership as taxpayers is essential to helping FIRS fulfil its mandate. That is why we deemed it important to acknowledge your commitment in this special way,” she said.
The event marked another milestone for Dangote Cement as it continues to lead in tax compliance, corporate responsibility, and economic contribution to Nigeria.
