A major security breach was recorded on Wednesday at the Gen. Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, when a man identified as Segun Martins attempted to stow away on an Overland Airways aircraft preparing for takeoff.

The incident occurred at about 3:02 PM as the aircraft taxied for departure. Martins reportedly tried to conceal himself between the plane’s tyres, under the mistaken belief that the flight was headed to the United States.

He was immediately spotted and apprehended by ground security personnel, who later handed him over to the Airport Police Command for interrogation. Airport authorities confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine his motives and assess potential security lapses.

Officials at the airport reiterated the need for heightened vigilance, warning that such dangerous attempts could lead to fatal consequences and compromise aviation safety.
