European heavyweights including Arsenal, Real Madrid and Liverpool have discovered their Round of 16 opponents after an exciting draw that produced several blockbuster clashes.

One of the standout ties sees Real Madrid rewarded for their playoff victory over Benfica with a high-stakes, two-legged showdown against Manchester City. With both sides considered pre-tournament favorites, one giant will exit earlier than expected in what has quickly become a modern European rivalry.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain will look for revenge against Chelsea following the Blues’ commanding win in last summer’s Club World Cup final. Meanwhile, Barcelona travel to St James’ Park for a tough test against Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Liverpool face Galatasaray, while Arsenal—placed on the more favorable side of the bracket—must overcome Bayer Leverkusen to keep their quadruple ambitions alive. The Gunners topped the league phase with a perfect record and will be confident of advancing.
