The Honourable Commissioner for the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Hon. (Mrs.) Bolaji Cecilia Dada, has extended warm greetings and solidarity to women across Lagos State as the world commemorates the Year 2026 International Women’s Day with the theme: “Rights. Justice. Action for ALL Women and Girls” and campaign focus #GiveToGain.

In her statement marking the 2026 International Women’s Day, the Commissioner noted that this year’s theme underscores the critical importance of safeguarding the rights of women and girls, strengthening access to justice, and taking deliberate, measurable action to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.

She emphasized that the theme calls for practical and result-driven steps that translate policies into tangible impact in the lives of women and girls across communities.

Hon. Dada explained that the campaign focus, #GiveToGain, reinforces the principle that sustained investment in women and girls through education, economic empowerment, protection services, and structured social support systems yields long-term benefits for families, communities, and the State at large. According to her, empowering women is not only a social responsibility but also a strategic pathway to economic growth and societal stability.

She further stated that under the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Government continues to implement transformative programmes and policies aimed at protecting women’s rights, promoting economic inclusion, strengthening social protection frameworks, and enhancing institutional responses to gender-based violence.

The Commissioner commended the resilience, innovation, enterprise, and invaluable contributions of women across all sectors of Lagos State, acknowledging their pivotal role in governance, business, education, health, community development, and nation-building. She encouraged women and girls to continue participating actively in government initiatives and empowerment programmes designed to promote their wellbeing and advancement.

Hon. Dada concluded by urging all residents of Lagos State to uphold the principles of Rights. Justice. Action for ALL Women and Girls and to embrace the message of #GiveToGain as a collective call to build a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous society for present and future generations.
