BAUCHI MAN DETAINED OVER ALLEGED SODOMY, CHILD ABUSE

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 48-year-old Bala Mato for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in Burra, Ningi Local Government Area.

The incident was reported on February 25, 2026, by Danalami Umar, a resident of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra.

Police said the victim was reportedly lured into a room by the suspect on February 17 at around 8 p.m., where the alleged assault took place.

In a statement posted on the command’s Facebook page on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib confirmed the arrest and said the victim had been taken to the General Hospital, Burra, for medical examination.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib said, “On a case of unnatural offence (sodomy), one Danalami Umar, 45, of Bakin Kasuwa, Burra, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Burra, that on February 17 at around 8 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was allegedly lured by Bala Mato, 48, who committed an unnatural offence against him in a room.

“The suspect has been arrested, and the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Burra, for medical examination.”

In a separate incident, police also arrested 24-year-old security guard Kamaluddeen Aliyu of Al-Ansar Security Limited over the alleged rape of two minors, aged four and five.

he case involving the two minors was reported on February 23 at the ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters by their mother, who alleged that the suspect lured the children into a security room at Tsohon Company, where he allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual acts with them on separate occasions.

Police said both the victims and the suspect were taken to the police clinic for medical examination. The Commissioner of Police subsequently ordered the case transferred to the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit for further investigation.

In a separate matter, the command also arrested a suspect over alleged fraud and criminal intimidation involving ₦3 million.

Emmanuel Christopher of Dawaki District, Abuja, told police that two suspects — 23-year-old Aliyu Yahaya and another identified as Abdullahi, who is currently at large — allegedly collected the money under the pretext of negotiating dollars and later threatened him with knives.

“The DPO led detectives to the scene and arrested Aliyu Yahaya, while Abdullahi fled. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, recover the money, and prosecute them in court,” the police statement said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property and warned criminals to desist from illegal activities.
