The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into an alleged security breach involving renowned Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, FAAN disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday, August 5, 2025, during boarding for a ValueJet flight (VK 201) to Lagos.

According to the statement, K1 De Ultimate attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board, contravening aviation safety protocols that restrict liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage, except when medically necessary and declared.

“Preliminary investigations confirmed the passenger was scheduled to board the morning flight to Lagos operated by ValueJet Airlines. During boarding, he attempted to carry a flask containing liquid despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security personnel and the Flight Captain,” FAAN said.

The liquid, later revealed to be alcohol, was reportedly spilled on a security officer when the musician allegedly refused to comply with instructions to set the flask aside for inspection. Tensions escalated as he also resisted the intervention of the Flight Captain.

“The passenger was informed of this regulation but reportedly declined to comply. He later poured the liquid on an airline security officer, prompting the Flight Captain to intervene,” the statement said.

The agency further revealed that K1 De Ultimate moved to the front of the aircraft and declined requests to vacate the area, forcing the crew to shut the aircraft door and call in Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel.

“He was ultimately escorted away by the AVSEC crime unit for further investigation, after which he was released,” the statement read.

FAAN condemned the disruption, stating that such behaviour compromises airport operations and endangers personnel.

“The Authority will not tolerate any action that compromises operational integrity or undermines aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” the statement warned.

FAAN assured the public that the incident is under thorough investigation and that any party found culpable will face appropriate legal consequences.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and compliance across all Nigerian airports.
