ALLEGED RAPE: ‘I’M NOT IN POLICE CUSTODY’ – SENATOR ABBO REFUTES ALLEGATION

SENATOR Ishaku Elisha Abbo, who represented the Adamawa North Senatorial District during the 9th and the early 10th Senate, has asserted that he is not at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, as alleged.
The Senator also refuted claims connecting him to the sexual assault of a 13-year-old secondary school student in June of this year.
It is noteworthy that media outlets reported yesterday that the beleaguered Senator was in police custody regarding the alleged assault, based on accusations made by the mother of the purported victim.
In a prompt response on Friday morning in Abuja, Senator Abbo categorically denied the allegation, labeling it as baseless, unfounded, and malicious.
Senator Abbo, who communicated this via a phone call with journalists covering the Senate, stated that he remained at his residence in Abuja (Katampe extension) throughout Thursday and was not present at a police station, much less in police custody.
He remarked, “The said report is handiwork of my political detractors. It is an orchestrated smear campaign to disturb my peace by political enemies.”
However, Senator Abbo acknowledged that he recently informed the Police about the desperate actions of a female extortionist who demanded N5 million from him. He stated, ““I personally reported the desperate female money monger to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), where both of us were later invited for questioning, only for me to be reading or hearing completely different story several weeks after now.”
Speculation arose online on Thursday suggesting that the former legislator was in police custody following allegations that he sexually assaulted a minor at his Katampe residence in Abuja on June 29, 2025.

The victim’s family also claimed that Senator Abbo repeatedly attempted to silence them by providing monetary compensation to the girl’s father and further alleged that Senator Aishatu Binani, the 2023 Adamawa gubernatorial candidate, visited them to dissuade them from pursuing legal action.
This latest controversy adds to a series of scandals that have surrounded Abbo’s political career.
Additionally, it is worth recalling that in 2019, the Senator garnered national attention after a viral video showcased him assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja, and he has also been previously accused of attempting to blackmail a married woman with an alleged sex tape.
