The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), in collaboration with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), is currently holding a stakeholders’ meeting on price tagging, minimum labelling requirements, and return/refund obligations as part of efforts to strengthen consumer protection and promote regulatory compliance among businesses.

The meeting, taking place on Wednesday at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Alausa Central Business District, Lagos, has brought together regulators, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, business owners and other key stakeholders to deliberate on the implications of non-compliance with existing consumer protection regulations.

With the theme, “Price Tagging, Minimum Labelling Requirements and Return/Refund: The Implications of Non-Regulatory Compliance,” the engagement is expected to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of legal obligations relating to transparent pricing, product information and consumer redress mechanisms.

Participants are expected to discuss the importance of displaying accurate prices on goods, complying with minimum product labelling standards, and implementing fair return and refund policies in line with consumer protection laws.

The meeting also provides a platform for regulators to engage directly with businesses, clarify regulatory expectations, address compliance challenges and encourage adherence to standards designed to protect consumers and foster fair competition in the marketplace.
