KING CHARLES HATES FOOTBALL, SAYS PRINCE WILLIAM AS HE BACKS ENGLAND’S WORLD CUP HOPES
Agency Report

Prince William has revealed that his father, King Charles III, is not a football fan, saying the British monarch “hates football.”
The Prince of Wales made the disclosure during an appearance on the New Heights podcast hosted by NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce. The episode aired on Friday, just hours before Travis Kelce was expected to celebrate his marriage to American pop superstar Taylor Swift.
The conversation focused largely on the ongoing FIFA World Cup, with Prince William discussing England’s campaign and his plans to attend the final if the Three Lions qualify.
A lifelong supporter of Premier League club Aston Villa, William was asked whether his passion for football came from his father.
“Absolutely not. My father hates football,” the prince replied.
England secured a place in the Round of 16 after captain Harry Kane scored two late goals to inspire a 2-1 comeback victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Three Lions are now set to face co-hosts Mexico at the high-altitude Estadio Azteca on Sunday as they continue their quest to win their first major international trophy in six decades.
Asked by Travis Kelce whether he would travel across the Atlantic to watch England in the World Cup final, William responded in the affirmative.
“If we’re in the finals… definitely. Maybe see you both there for the final?” he said.
The interview coincided with the United States’ Fourth of July celebrations, marking 250 years since the country’s independence from Britain.
During the discussion, Travis Kelce jokingly asked the prince whether he was surprised the United States had achieved independence.
“Be honest, are you surprised we made it?” the NFL star asked.
“There were times… there were times,” William replied with a laugh before adding, “I’d like to think the UK and the US have been together for those 250 years.”
The light-hearted exchange has since attracted widespread attention as football and American football fans continue to follow both the World Cup and the high-profile wedding of Kelce and Swift.
