In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, described the launch as “a strategic step toward strengthening professionalism and boosting officer morale within the Command”. He stated that the band would play a vital role in official ceremonies, parades, graduations, and public functions, while also enhancing the Command’s image and visibility. He emphasized on the importance of establishing a police band as a strategic necessity that would enhance public trust, morale, and the professional image of the Nigerian Police Force in Lagos State.
CP Jimoh expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for personally attending the event, describing his presence as a demonstration of the importance attached to the development of the Lagos State Command. Beyond ceremonial duties, the Lagos Police Band is expected to serve as a powerful tool for community engagement and public relations.
