Lagos State Government has announced plans to host the Lagos Cultural Weekend, a three-day festival dedicated to celebrating Nigeria’s heritage and creativity.

The event, themed “Advancing and Celebrating the Spirit of Our Heritage,”will take place from November 14–16, 2025.

Activities will be staged at iconic venues across the state, including the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Freedom Park, National Theatre, Badagry Heritage Museum, Lekki Arts and Crafts Market, and Tafawa Balewa Square.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, said the initiative is part of Lagos’ Cultural Mission to establish the state as a global cultural hub.

“The Lagos Cultural Weekend will be a cultural baptism – an authentic introduction to who we are. Beyond showcasing traditions, it’s about investing in artisans, creatives, historians, and cultural custodians to drive engagement and economic growth,” he explained.

He added that through strategic partnerships and community participation, the Lagos Cultural Weekend will boost the state’s creative economy while giving visitors an authentic taste of Nigerian culture.

The festival will feature live music, traditional dance, fashion shows, culinary tastings, craft demonstrations, art exhibitions, and interactive workshops.

Symposiums and cultural lectures will also deepen understanding of Lagos’ identity and history.

Performances by local groups, storytellers, and cultural icons will further showcase the city’s rich ethnic diversity and vibrant creative spirit.
