Concerned leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State have petitioned the party’s national leadership, calling for a thorough investigation into allegations of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and unethical conduct against the state chairman, Femi Soluade.
In a petition dated June 20, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman, the stakeholders accused Soluade of mismanaging party funds, removing account signatories without due process, and engaging in conduct they claim has undermined unity within the party.
The petition, signed by Hudu Idris, Ismaila Adejumon, Temitope Adebayo, and Rashidat Yekin, stated that the action was motivated by a commitment to accountability, transparency, justice, discipline, and adherence to the party’s constitution.
Soluade was appointed Acting Chairman of the Ogun State chapter in December 2025 following the voluntary resignation of former acting chairman, Itunu Abioro.
According to the petitioners, there are growing concerns among party members regarding the management and utilization of funds in the state chapter’s account. They called for a comprehensive audit of all financial transactions carried out since Soluade assumed office.
The stakeholders also alleged that other authorized signatories to the party’s bank account were removed without proper consultation or approval from the relevant party organs. They argued that, if confirmed, such actions would constitute a serious violation of internal financial controls and weaken accountability in the management of party resources.
They urged the national leadership to obtain relevant account mandate documents, signatory change records, and banking details from Sterling Bank to determine the true state of affairs.
The petition further alleged a pattern of intimidation, abuse of office, and high-handedness in the administration of party affairs in Ogun State, claiming that such actions have created divisions within the party and eroded confidence among members.
Consequently, the petitioners called on the National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) to establish an independent investigative panel to examine all allegations raised, conduct a forensic audit of the party’s account, and investigate claims of abuse of office and unethical conduct.
Reacting to the allegations, Soluade dismissed them as false and misleading. He denied claims of assaulting his deputy, describing the reported incident as a misunderstanding that had long been resolved.
According to him, he has personally financed much of the party’s activities in the state, with support from a few associates he introduced to the party. He maintained that all financial transactions have been properly documented and expressed confidence that any investigation would clear him of wrongdoing.
Soluade added that he remains committed to protecting his reputation and integrity, insisting that the allegations would not stand up to scrutiny.
