It is not up to a week yet, that President Muhammadu Buhari was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as the winner of the 2019 presidential poll and handed the certificate of return, Nigerians have continued to reiterate their expectations and demands from him as he prepares to chair the affairs of the nation for the next four years.

Although, there were some who still hold mixed reactions towards the president’s re-election, many notwithstanding wanted him to put the drama before and during the elections behind him in order to deliver on his campaign promises.

Some of the people who spoke with hotjist.com highlighted; the need for peace and unity in the country, infrastructure, security, etc as some of the core areas Mr President should give his utmost attention.

“It’s Good to still have the APC led administration.

“1. More investment(research, technology and invention ) in agriculture. So we can have surplus or food. – Nigerians will appreciate the govt if foods item are surplus/cheap.

  1. Power optimization- Power is a major contributor to d economy. We need more power.
  2. Road and other infrastructure
  3. Peace and unity- am sure the fed. Govt. Can find a permanent solution to all insurgency in some part of d country. If they can remove political biasness and implement policy that can favour both parties.” Ejire – Entrepreneur

“Well, I think Nigerians have made their choice, determined by the majority. Although, the irregularities in the election makes it difficult for me to stick out my neck that the results are a true reflection of the wish of the majority.

By and large, regardless of whether or not not pmb is the best person Nigerians can produce as their president, we live with both the blessings and the consequences of our choices in the next 4 years.

My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones. May God comfort them.

We keep praying for our leaders across board.

I wish us good luck” Ninyo Omidji -Social media analyst.

“I am so excited about this opportunity to voice my view on Hotjist about the just concluded election won by the incumbent president!

I am so happy and expect more work from President Muhammadu Buhari.

I was so worried about people’s excitement about Atiku’s opportunity to unseat PMB. Atiku has been alleged to have been one of the most corrupt leaders Nigeria has ever had by his similarly corrupt boss OBJ. He went ahead to prove this by overtly bribing voters at the PDP party primaries with $5,000! It was an open information.

It is so embarrassing that this same man was supported by several people even after he said on national TV that he will sell NNPC to his friends just the same way he did with other government agencies he sold along with Obasanjo and none of these agencies have lived to their expectations, an example of which is PHCN.

Even if Buhari is believed to have failed us, Atiku can never be an option!

Our education is struggling and a good number of students only pass in WAEC when teachers and parents help them to cheat! Students are helped to cheat by their parents through invigilators in common entrance examinations for pry 5 and 6 into secondary schools. Atiku will only make what is being worked on by the current administration worse! He has no value system! So I got really scared that more and more people were supporting. I thought we have lost our values as a nation to even ever consider such a person.

I heard some people say that there will be more money in circulation if Atiku becomes the president and I said there was more money in my own circulation during Buhari’s regime because I keep working hard everyday.

It goes to show that people don’t want to labour before making success.

People will rather live like the prodigal son!

Buhari lost heavily in Abuja because there are no more free money for those people that are not hard working!

This is so sad!
Now I’m proud to say I’m so happy PMB won!

My expectations:
More war on corruption and more imprisonment of past corrupt people!

Direct and real work on educational development.
Enhanced youth development.
Optimum information dissemination and aggressive national orientation about patriotism and youth development.

Massive punishment of thieves in all sectors starting with the power sector and my list goes on and on.” Dr. Fatai Olajobi – Educational Consultant and medical practitioner.

“We all know that the power of incumbency is still very relevant in Nigeria politics. And I want to say God allowed it to be so. There were manipulations at both ends but as we know, it will favour one than the other.

I could see so much desperation within the APC group, but here we are. We have to be led for another 4yrs.

As we have prayed and voted and the results have turned this way, God is still involved.
We should not relent in our prayers for the govt.
First, for God to turn buhari hearts to do His will this time around. God should help him correct all His past errors.
God should surround him with good people that give wise and useful counsel to move the nation forward.
This applies to the spiritual.

Really, I don’t really expect much from them as many promises made before were yet to be fulfilled.

Goverment should look into the issue of security and fix our economy.

Create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, fix power and make life easy for the citizens.

I don’t understand the way Buhari Govt is fighting corruption, it is a selective fighting and I feel that is not too good for the country.
Let there be fairness and justice for all.

Whatever is done today becomes history tomorrow.” Olufemi Ajani – Digital Marketing expert and clergy.

“As a realist, I don’t expect any miracle in this second term rather than a consolidation on the systemic change we have been witnessing, although slow, but a bit commendable.

He should be more focused on normalizing the whole system of governance to the point that every public office holder from the local government to the federal begins to have a sense of accountability.

The president should organise an economic summit to include all and sundary, so far the participants are economic experts. The conference should gather everyone who has a solution to proffer to our economic issues, particularly those ardent critics of the present economic policies, with a view to articulate wider range and more effective economic policies.

As suggested above, similar summit should be organised to address our security challenges.

I expect the president to be more attentive to the observations of people with objectivity in respect of his lieutenants and be more proactive in subjecting them to accountability in line with the requirements of the law not according to the wishes of anyone. Doing this will ascertain the credibility of his government’s efforts in eradicating corruption and enshrining discipline and accountability into governance.

The president has an unreserved duty of ensuring that the legislative and the executive arms are in harmony this time for the success of his second term.

Finally, the judiciary they say is the hope of a common man in a democracy, but that is fast eroding. Serious effort should be made to make our judiciary what it ought to be otherwise no tangible success would be achieved in our non-negotiable fight against corruption.

In summary, my expectation is that once he can set the foundations upon which successes are built, which is what I term as systemic overhauling, his name will definitely go down as the father of the new Nigeria we are all hoping for.

May the almighty Allah deliver us to that next level of successes as a nation and individually.” – Giwa Ahmed

“Well, elections come and go. I congratulate Buhari for his victory at the poll. Nigerians have spoken and it is an indication that majority believe in his leadership.

I will expect him to use the next four years to stabilize country, security wise and involve his vice as much as possible in economic/infrastructural development. It will also be nice if the President can appoint qualified technocrat into various arms of Government, a lot of work is needed to be done. I wish him well. God bless Nigeria.” – Demola Adedapo

“For me I would have preferred someone younger from a totally different political party, but since he’s the one, I think he’s preferable compared to Atiku and based on their past antecedents.
For me I expect President Buhari to prove the many who doubted his integrity wrong because, he has an additional four years to make things right. Most Nigerians see him as a failure because most of the things he promised were not effectively done, as a matter of fact things moved from bad to worse. Most of his followers claimed the system was so bad, that time was needed to set things right. Well, now is the time. I believe they will make use of this additional four years to really make a difference.” Joseph Ogunlewe – Marketing Executive
