A man has taken hostages in a supermarket in the southern city of Trebes, near Carcassonne in France, say police.
A police press officer told to NBC news that at around 11 a.m a man entered a Super U supermarket and gunshots were heard inside. The man is holding hostages but, at this point, French authorities do not know how many people are being held inside.
Swat teams from neighboring areas are being sent to provide support to local police and there are helicopters flying over the area above the supermarket.
