AMOTEKUN DEPLOYS 500 OPERATIVES FOR SECURITY AHEAD OF OSUN-OSOGBO FESTIVAL

As preparations reach their zenith for the grand conclusion of the 2025 Osun-Osogbo International Festival set for this Friday, the Osun Amotekun Corps has assigned 500 personnel to guarantee a secure and smooth celebration.

The celebration, acknowledged by UNESCO as a cultural legacy occasion, attracts countless visitors from all over Africa, the diaspora, and practitioners of traditional religions from various parts of the globe.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Corps, Yusuf Idowu, declared that the Commandant, Adekunle Omoyele, had implemented proactive strategies to ensure the safety of all festival-related activities prior to and during the event.

According to Omoyele, Amotekun operatives will be strategically positioned at significant festival locations, essential routes, and public assembly areas. He underscored the corps’ preparedness to execute both visible and covert security measures to uphold law and order throughout the festivities.

He also issued a firm warning to individuals or groups with malicious intentions, asserting that any attempt to disrupt public tranquility or partake in illegal activities will encounter the full force of the legal system.

“The Osun-Osogbo Festival is not only a cultural observance but also a globally esteemed event that showcases the richness of our heritage. We will not condone any actions that jeopardize the peace or sanctity of this esteemed occasion,” Omoyele stated.

Additionally, he encouraged all attendees to celebrate with responsibility and remain vigilant.

“If you notice anything out of the ordinary, report it immediately to the relevant authorities. Our operatives are fully alert and present to safeguard lives and property. The welfare of residents and visitors is our utmost priority. ”

The deployment of Amotekun Corps security highlights the state’s dedication to ensuring a peaceful and successful Osun-Osogbo Festival.
