The All Progressives Congress (APC) currently governs 29 of Nigeria’s 36 states, according to a regional analysis of party control across the federation.
In the South-South, the ruling party has secured a clean sweep, controlling all six states — Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross River, Rivers and Bayelsa — tightening its grip on the oil-producing region.
The APC has also consolidated its dominance in the North-Central zone, where Benue, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi and Plateau are all under its control, delivering another 6–0 outcome for the party.
In the South-East, the APC governs Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states. Abia remains under the Labour Party (LP), while Anambra is controlled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), giving the APC three of the five states in the region.
Across the South-West, the APC maintains control of Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun and Ondo states. Oyo is governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Osun is under the Accord Party, leaving the ruling party with four of the six states in the zone.

In the North-East, the APC holds sway in Borno, Yobe, Taraba and Gombe states. Adamawa and Bauchi remain under the PDP, resulting in a four-state tally for the APC in the region.
The North-West remains a stronghold for the ruling party, with Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna and Kano under APC leadership. Zamfara is the lone exception, currently governed by the PDP, giving the APC control of six of the seven states in the zone.
Overall, the regional breakdown shows that the APC now controls 29 states nationwide, reinforcing its dominant political position across the country.
