OSUN APC CONFIDENT OF AUGUST 8 GOVERNORSHIP VICTORY
By Aishat Momoh. O.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has expressed optimism about winning the August 8 governorship election, citing recent political developments and the performance of the ruling party at the national level.
A chieftain of the party, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, made this known during a chat with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, according to a statement.
Oyintiloye attributed the party’s confidence to the achievements of President Bola Tinubu, which he said have strengthened the APC’s appeal across the country. He also pointed to the performance of APC governors nationwide and the record of the party’s previous administration in Osun as factors that would boost the chances of the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
According to him, recent defections by five Osun federal lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and other opposition parties signal growing support for the APC ahead of the poll.
“The defection of the five PDP National Assembly lawmakers and the endorsement of the President for a second term in office are indications that the people of this state love the APC and are ready to return it to office in the August 8 governorship election,” Oyintiloye said.
He described Oyebamiji as competent and dependable, assuring voters that the APC candidate would fulfil his campaign promises if elected.
“The people of the state are yearning for the return of good governance through the APC, and by August 8, their wishes will be fulfilled. We are confident of winning,” he added.
Oyintiloye also commended the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and APC leader in Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, for sustaining the party’s structure despite being out of government. He said Oyetola and other stakeholders had put in place a framework to integrate new members into the party without sidelining existing loyalists.
He urged residents to disregard what he described as a “campaign of calumny” by rival parties, maintaining that the APC remains focused on reclaiming the state and steering it towards sustainable growth.
Oyintiloye further encouraged members of opposition parties interested in joining the APC to follow the example of the recently defected National Assembly members, assuring that the party has the capacity to accommodate new entrants.
