MAN KILLED, WIFE ABDUCTED AS POLICE BEGIN INVESTIGATION IN KEBBI

The Kebbi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a 35-year-old man and the abduction of his wife in the early hours of Friday in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

Usman said the victim, identified as Sufiyanu Garba, was attacked by suspected criminals at his residence.

He said detectives from the command quickly visited the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Usman noted that a nearby police checkpoint could have been alerted earlier to enable a faster response.

“The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where a doctor confirmed him dead. His remains have been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary,” he said.

Usman added that the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police had directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for a thorough investigation.

According to him, the directive is aimed at ensuring the rescue of the abducted woman and bringing those responsible to justice.

He assured residents that the command has taken steps to strengthen the state’s security architecture to prevent similar incidents.

Usman also urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies to the police to enable swift intervention.

“Timely information from residents is vital in preventing incidents of this nature,” the spokesman said.
