POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OVER ALLEGED STABBING DEATH OF 18-YEAR-OLD IN ONDO

The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has arrested a suspect, Johnson Daniel, for allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old boy, Ariyo Amos Timilehin, to death in Owo, Owo Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure, the state capital.
According to Jimoh, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly stabbed during an argument with the suspect.
“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026,” he said.
He added that the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
Police detectives later visited the scene of the incident and recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.
Jimoh noted that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police spokesperson also commiserated with the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to avoid violence when resolving disputes.
Meanwhile, reports gathered indicate that the victim and the suspect were known to be close friends and were often seen together in their neighbourhood prior to the incident.
