“This is in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.”
At the graduation event, Commissioner of Police in charge of the EOD-CBRN Command, CP Hauwa Ibrahim, MNIPS, spoke on behalf of Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and praised the officers for their cooperation, discipline, and commitment during the training.
She noted that the training aligns with the IGP’s strategic vision to build a more capable and resilient Police Force.
The IGP also acknowledged the support of national and international partners, including the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), The HALO Trust, the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), and the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
He recognised the contributions of specialised units within the Force, such as the Directorate of Force Medical Services, the Forensics Section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
“The Inspector-General of Police reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to continuous capacity development, assuring Nigerians that the newly trained officers will significantly bolster national security efforts, enhance public safety, and support ongoing counter-threat operations across the country,” the statement concluded.
The incident coincides with more general dangers in Nigeria, such as piracy, separatist activities, and disputes between farmers and herders. The goal of the training is to counter the growing security threats, especially the ISWAP and Boko Haram insurgencies, which have killed many people with suicide bombers and IEDs.
