ANAMBRA 2025: UMEOJI WITHDRAWS FROM APC PRIMARIES

In the lead-up to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Anambra, scheduled for Saturday, one of the aspirants, Chukwuma Umeoji, has withdrawn from the race.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously fixed the party primaries to run between March 20 and April 10, 2025.
With Umeoji’s exit, six aspirants—Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Nicholas Ukachukwu, Paul Chukwuma, Onunkwo Johnbisco Obinna, Valentine Ozigbo, and Edozie Madu—will now contest for the party’s ticket.
Announcing the development, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed confidence that Umeoji would rally behind the party’s eventual candidate and contribute to securing victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
The statement read in part “An aspirant in tomorrow’s gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra state, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, has informed the Party of his decision to withdraw from the election. According to him, this decision was made in good faith following consultations with my supporters across the state.
“Our great Party thanks the Rt. Hon. Umeoji for his aspiration and dedicated support of the Party in Anambra state and nationally.
“It is our hope that Rt. Hon. Umeoji will do all in his power to support and work for the victory of the eventual gubernatorial flag bearer of our great Party in the November 8, 2025 Anambra state gubernatorial election.”
