Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is often called a silent killer because it usually shows no symptoms until significant damage has occurred to the heart, brain, kidneys, or blood vessels. Many people live with it unknowingly, increasing their risk for heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and vision loss.
What is Hypertension?
Hypertension occurs when the force of blood against the artery walls is consistently too high. A normal blood pressure reading is around 120/80 mmHg. Readings consistently above 140/90 mmHg are considered hypertensive.
Why It’s Dangerous
