IFEANYI OKOWA SPOTTED AT EFCC OFFICE IN LAGOS

Ifeanyi Okowa, the former governor of Delta State, went to the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday.
According to people inside the EFCC, the visit was related to an ongoing probe into claims of financial misuse that happened while he was in office.
In November 2024, the anti–graft agency arrested Okowa because he was accused of moving N1.3 trillion that was supposed to be used for the state during his eight years as governor.
He was also said to have used public money to buy houses in Asaba, the capital of the state, and in Abuja.
After being arrested, Okowa claimed that the state‘s money was used wisely during his time in office and said he wasn’t afraid of being investigated.
The former governor of Delta accused the anti–graft agency of creating a media–driven trial.
“Whatever that is going on, I am not worried, and I have spoken about it. I am not afraid to be investigated,” Okowa had said.
“I may not be a saint, but I know I stepped in there as governor with a full hope and desire to help people to give the best for ourselves in this state within the limit of our resources.”
Okowa was governor of Delta from 2015 to 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was the running mate to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election under PDP.
In April 2025, Okowa defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside his successor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and several political officeholders in the state.
