IKEJA LG ORGANISES TWO-DAY TRAINING WORKSHOP ON WORKERS’ PRODUCTIVITY

Ikeja, Lagos — The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff development and capacity building as the council commenced a two-day workshop on measuring workers’ productivity.
The workshop, organised in collaboration with Woyinbomi Enterprise, began on Thursday, July 16, and concludes on Friday, July 17, 2026. It is aimed at equipping staff with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to enhance workplace productivity and improve service delivery.
Declaring the workshop open, Dauda encouraged members of staff to actively participate in the training and apply the knowledge gained to improve workplace efficiency and service delivery.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to initiatives that promote professional growth and enhance productivity among staff members.
Earlier, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Comrade Jubril Olusegun Aliu, welcomed participants and expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his unwavering support for staff welfare and capacity development initiatives.
One of the resource persons, Professor Adedeji Oyenuga, highlighted the importance of connecting knowledge with practical skills in today’s workplace.
He introduced the LSSW framework—Learn Input, Structured Practice, Supervisor Feedback, and Workplace Performance—as a model for translating knowledge into measurable productivity.
Professor Oyenuga also identified organisational goals, time management, digital literacy, effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving as key drivers of workplace productivity.
Speaking on organisational change, Professor Olabisi Yusuff explained that individuals typically move through stages of shock, resistance, and eventual acceptance before fully embracing change. She encouraged staff members to view change as an opportunity for personal and organisational growth.
In his presentation, Professor Bolawale Odunike described productivity as the efficient transformation of inputs into outputs and urged participants to continually improve their performance in support of organisational goals.
Mrs. Oshineye Opeyemi Taiwo, Chief Education Officer, delivered the first vote of thanks, appreciating the organisers, facilitators, and participants while urging staff to apply the lessons learned.
The final vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Abiola Lukman Olanrewaju of the Finance Department, who also commended the speakers and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
The training underscores Ikeja Local Government’s commitment to building a competent, efficient, and productive workforce through continuous learning and capacity development.
