Israel has signaled a likely response following Iran’s missile attack, with an Israeli official stating: “There will be a response. Iran will not get away with this quietly.”
The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (Israel), Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, carried out a situational assessment with the General Staff Forum and approved operational strike plans following the missile attack.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, Zamir said: “The IDF will strike the enemy with force the moment the green light is given.”
IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin described the Iranian regime (Iran) as having “made a grave mistake” and confirmed that the military remains prepared for possible additional missile launches from Iran.
US CONTACTS AND REPORTED PRESSURE TO DELAY ESCALATION
The phone call between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu has ended.
Netanyahu is now holding security consultations following the call with President Trump, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
According to Ynet’s Ron Ben-Yishai and Yedioth Ahronoth, the United States conveyed a message to Israel advising it to wait several days to see whether an agreement with Iran can still be reached. The report added that if no agreement is reached, coordinated action would follow rather than limited exchanges of strikes.
President Trump told Axios: “We are very close to reaching a final agreement with Iran and I don’t want the situation to explode because of what’s happening now. The Iranian strikes did not result in any injuries and we hope that Israel will not retaliate.”
REPORT: BEIRUT STRIKE LINKED TO PRIOR UNDERSTANDINGS
According to “The Equation Game,” Israel’s strike in Beirut earlier today was carried out with explicit White House approval and in line with prior understandings that Israel would respond if Hezbollah resumed rocket or drone attacks on Israeli territory.
The report states that the Beirut strike targeted a largely empty headquarters and was intended as a symbolic response following Hezbollah rocket fire toward Israel.
It further reports that after Iran launched a major missile attack on Israel, Jerusalem considers a response unavoidable, even if it is not aligned with President Trump’s current position.
NORTHERN ISRAEL PREPARES FOR POSSIBLE FURTHER ATTACKS
The Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya has been instructed to prepare for relocation to underground facilities following the Iranian missile attack, according to Ynet.
The hospital stated it is preparing underground units and may reduce the number of hospitalized patients pending further evaluation.
Firefighting teams are operating at several open-area fire locations in the Galilee and Golan Heights caused by interceptions, according to N12.
IRANIAN OFFICIALS THREATEN BROADER REGIONAL ESCALATION
A military source cited by Tasnim said Iran has missiles ready for immediate launch against a wider range of targets if Israel responds.
The source warned that any Israeli retaliation would trigger a larger-scale follow-up strike and stated that Iran is prepared for broader escalation if hostilities continue.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that all US bases in the region would be considered legitimate targets if Israel attacks Iran.
According to Al Mayadeen, a senior Iranian security source warned the “American-Zionist alliance” against alleged ceasefire violations and said any renewed “miscalculation” would trigger a “new and intense level of fire.”
The same source stated that Iran would not abandon its allies in Lebanon and insisted that any ceasefire arrangement must include all regional fronts, especially Lebanon.
